Preparing for TAKS

I know I said the bad word TAKS!!!!! Well unfortunately it is in our near future and we have to start preparing now. Please make sure you are proofing your answers. Remember that proofing your answers is only to help you get the right answer. I want everyone to do their best so that we can enjoy the rest of the year TAKS FREE:) The Reading TAKS test will be given in the first week of March. We just finished our second benchmark last week and we should know our scores soon. Here are a few pictures of the students hard at work in class.

Pumpkin Fun

two of my classes got the chance to clean and prepare a pumpkin for carving. Unfortunately two of the four classes did not get to participate due to the fact that I had to leave and go pick up my son. So I am so sorry that the other two classes did not get to get to stick their hand in the pumpkin and get all gooey and smelly. And unfortunately we didn't even
get to carve the pumpkin, But it was fun while it lasted:) Many of the students had never seen the inside, touched or carved a pumpkin before. A lot of them actually tasted the goo and seeds. YUCK!!!

Red Ribbon Week

We had a great time wearing crazy silly thing for Red Ribbon week. Red Ribbon week is a week to Celebrate being drug free. Drugs are never the answer. Drugs are bad for your body. I love all my kids would never want them to make that bad choice. If you are ever pressured about taking drugs please tell someone.

Here are a few pictures from Drug Free Week!

Welcome

Welcome to Mrs. Crabtree's Reading class blog. I thought it would be a great idea this year to have a blog so that I could share a lot more with the parents of my students. I'm not sure how often I will be able to create new entries but we will see how it goes. First of all thank you for getting the permission slips back to me in a timely manner. If for any reason you change you preferences to include or not include your child's work or pictures just let me know. For now you will be able to leave comments. But I ask two thing of those whose choose to leave comments. First of all if if you do not have an account and you want to comment either create an account or leave your first name at the end. If you are a parent you might want to put (Hunter's mom). Second all comments should be positive in every aspect. The comments will be monitored and if I receive negative comments the comment section will be taken off. This week we do have the Science Benchmark on Thursday the 23rd for all 5th graders. Your student should be studying every night to be prepared to take the test. Due to the benchmark there will not be a test this week in reading.
Thursday is also Movie night at Farrell. We are having Movie night in honor of becoming a recognized school due to our TAKS scores last year. Make sure you get you permission slips in so that you can attend the movie and get your pizza and drink. Hopefully the next blog will be a little more exciting and fun!
